Gabriel Severn is a 21-year-old Los Angeles-based touring and session bassist, bringing versatility, musicality and a song-first approach to every gig. He has toured and performed with Seal, Leona Lewis, Sheila E., Justin Lee Schultz, and more.

Drawn to the bass before he could speak, Gabriel discovered Jaco Pastorius at age two and began lessons at seven. Within months, he was playing in a young Motown tribute band, learning groove and time feel through the music while transcribing jazz and fusion solos on his own. At eleven, his performance of Jaco's solo from Weather Report's “Havona” went viral, introducing his playing to a wider audience.

At twelve, he formed Teen Town, the award-winning trio that went on to tour, perform at festivals and release two albums: A Month of Sundays and 21: Teen Town Live at Metropolis. His work as a bassist, composer and bandleader has earned recognition from YoungArts, the Joe Zawinul Foundation, the Jazz Education Network and DownBeat. In 2020, he performed his award-winning original composition with the U.S. Navy Commodores at the Jazz Education Network Conference.

Along the way, Gabriel has studied with and been mentored by Victor Wooten, Anthony Wellington, Gerald Veasley and Adam Nitti, and spent two years at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. Today, that background informs his work on tour, in the studio and with his own projects. Whether joining an established live show or shaping a new recording, his focus is the same: finding the right feel and supporting the artist's sound.
